It's probably not for everybody, looks like I have 17 on 2 SDDs and more on a couple large flash drives. I like keeping my Files (Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos) on a seperate partition. I used to keep those on 5 different partitions and that had pros/cons too. I also keep .iso's on Ventoy partition, and have an Apps partition of AppImages I really haven't made use of yet. All this keeps my operating system installs smaller, gives some inherent security to my files, and lets me access my files and AppImages from any Linux OS with fstab. It works for me. If I had it to do over I would use more partitions, not less!

I did multi-boot excessively for awhile, but now I use my MX Linux frugal install most of the time and those other OS installs can sit there doing nothing for weeks or months, they don't bother me. I installed Ubuntu 24.04 a few days ago just to take a look at it. I doubt I'll use it for much else, but I'll leave it, there's no reason to remove it, might want to do something with it at some point.
While it's not for everybody, I do think the combination of GPT table and very inexpensive large M.2 nvme's has potential that hasn't been fully realized.
