Hi, I am trying to install MX Linux 23.3 Debian Xfce.
I received the following error when going through the installation process:
This is the table that appears before the text: I am focusing on the sdb device only:
---
BEGIN
sdb
device, size, use for, label, encrypt, format, check
sdb,931 GB,,,,GPT
sdb1,100mb,,,,fat32
sdb2,16mb,,,,
sdb3,533gb,,win10pro,ntfs
sdb4,397gb,,rootmx23,ext4
sdb5,505mb,,,,ntfs
---
this system uses EFI,
but no valid EFI system partition was
assigned to /boot/efi separately.
are you sure you want to continue ?
---
END
---
When I continue, the installation fails and tells me to try GRUB rescue menu option upon startup.
That never came up.
I have tried installing this a number of time over 2 hours now and no luck.
I think I know what might be going on but I have no idea how to fix it.
Note that I have Windows10Pro installed on the same device sdb .
I partitioned this drive into 2 areas.
On the 2nd area I installed KDE Plasma 6.1 .
That was working fine for a number of weeks.
I had functioning dual boot with windows.
Every time I loaded up my computer I was presented with a dual boot menu and I choose KDE Plasma.
I think I installed the linux boot loader on the same drive as sdb but I am now not sure.
Anyways yesterday I wanted to change to MX Linux because KDE was too slow on my old computer system (i5 chip etc.).
I deleted the KDE partition but I think the GRUB boot loader from KDE is still there because in the BIOS boot menu it still displays
neon (which is KDE Plasma ) .
Now I am unsure how to proceed .
How do I completely remove all remnants of the old GRUB from KDE while still leaving Windows 10PRO EFI intact ?
I want to move to MX Linux but now i think my bootloader is all messed up.
Only Windows10Pro now works.
Any help would be appreciated since I really want to move to MX Linux from Windows and KDE.
Thanks.
