Sorry. I did the official install over existing method. A minor difference is that I have my /home on a separate partition so I selected to not preserve /oe on root partition, but use my home partition and not format. I also selected to enable hibernation support. There was a warning concerning boot (I don't recall the exact warning, though), but it offered to alternative but continue or abort, so I continued. After the install it completely failed to boot, and doing some poking around I noticed that /boot/efi is completely empty. Tried several options with the boot repair from live USB to no avail. When I have tome time I could try repeating the process again and collect more precise info.
Seems somehow "systematic" failure, E.g like /boot/efi is empty, or cannot boot.
So just repeating the same might not solve the real issue. And yes, without knowing what you have done
and what the current partition situation is , without any further detailed info of the systems, may result probably only in kind of "try again until it works." type of motivations.
Maybe you just try a fresh install, with prepared additional, extra ESP and just one new root-partition, just to check that such installation would boot.
Good Luck.
