Software / Configuration • What can run on a VM under MX KDE 23.3?

I have somewhat strange problem and need some help. My daughter has an old Dell Laptop that has an I5 processor and only 4 Gig of ram. Someone put W10 on it before she got it. I don't do windows but I think it is way underpowered for W10. Everything runs very slowly. Like 30 to 90 seconds just to open a program. But she needs it for her home-schooled son for the Teaching Textbook Math program.

When I used a USB stick to boot into MX KDE 23.3 it took off and ran fine. So I believe I can install MX and solve the very slow running problem. However I have been working all day and have not found a way to also be able to use her son's math program.

Here are the OSes that it is supposed to be able to run on:
Windows 10 and up
MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) and up
ChromeOS (must have the Google Play Store)
Android 10 and up
iOS/iPad 12.0 and up
KindleOS (must have Amazon App Store)

I think trying to run W10 in a VM is going to be even slower than it is now. I tried booting it up with ChromeOS on a usb stick but that was also very slow. I have spent a good part of the day trying to find a way to get Waydroid to work on MX but no luck so far. I downloaded MacOS but when I try to install it in Boxes nothing happens.

I am open to any suggestions by anyone for how to get her a laptop that works for her son. I like MX and have it on all my machines and both my brothers machines so I would like to stay with that. But I am willing to try whatever someone thinks will work. I have already saved my grandson's previous work but haven't actually wiped windows yet.

TIA
