Separate /usr and /var partitions are quite common on servers to prevent / from running full.I'm curious as to why you have separate partitions for /usr and /var?
But that's moot if you configure them to be so small so they run full instead
From all the questions asked on the forum it didn't seem to be a server setup but I could be wrong.
Back in the day I use to setup on my home computer with a /boot, /, /home and /swap partition configuration
but nowadays I have a second hard drive installed and just back up /home over to there.
