Bugs and Non-Package Requests Forum • Re: Potential problem in Synaptic when holding back Debian kernel updates in MX Tweak

Synaptic has their own way of holding back packages. Select the package you want to hold and click on Package at the top. Now check the box Lock Version.
The issue-point with synaptic "locked" packages by using pin-preferences on packages,
is about that no other tool like MXPI->Enabled Repos, or apt/apt-get/nala on command line,
will stop to upgrade the synaptic-locked package.
Except, as mentioned "MX Updater" does the extra "jump", and checks synaptic pinned packages,
and won't upgrade those found locked by synaptic, regardless, whether apt or nala is in use with "MX Updater".
