Well, I installed MX on a real laptop yesteday, rather than just a VM, and I don't see the problem there. Still, I remain rather uneasy -- I don't see this problem with suspend, etc., when I install the Fedora Xfce4 variant on the same VM platform. So I'm a bit worried that there is something about the way MX sets of polkit or dbus or something of that nature, that makes it different from Fedora.
The problem isn't to do with time -- however long I stay logged in, the suspend functionality doesn't become available. And I saw it the very first time I logged in, so I don't think it's to do with logging out, either.
I don't need suspend to work on VMs; but I do need it to work on real computers. I'd be happy to collect further diagnostics, if that would help.
BR, Lars.
