I have a confession: when I said my live MX23 usb memory stick would not use the Logitech B300 mouse, on the computer where I am having the problem, I was mistaken. I thought I'd better check it again and the mouse does work with the live media - as I installed MX23 from the same live media on the dual boot system that can use the B300, it made me think twice. I'm sorry for any confusion my mistake may have caused and perhaps this may narrow down the root of the problem.
