You just need to make sure TDE runs pipewire-start at login.

That did it.

Well, just in case someone else hits here for the same thing. I also had to close/quit TDE’s KMix and use pavucontrol for volume control. TDE’s KMix has always been a bit twitchy, and really I’m glad to get rid of pulse, as I had to restart it at least once a week.

I’ll find something easier for volume control eventually.
