In general, installing a .deb file can reliably overwrite a preivous version of that same package. When installing a newer .deb manually be careful that dependencies may also have been updated and those additional .deb files will need to be found and installed as well.Can the version installed in this way be updated by installing a newer version via .deb packages without fear of conflicts, or do the previous packages have to be uninstalled? Maybe there is another way to proceed in such a case?
