I spun up a fully installed, working python machine yesterday and tested this and had the same results that you did on mx21.
my understanding is that the 2.33 and 2.34 lib's are debian 12 only. One of the devs here might be able to shed light on it, but it appears that you will be loading those libs on mx21 from what I am reading.
