You should try a liquorix kernel. You can load it up, try it and if it doesnt help or suite you always roll back to the one you have now. They have shown to be less laggy and I believe "smoother" on AL of my machines I have tried them on - There are all I will use any more as they are that good.
Make sure the AHS repo is checked in repo manager and then in MX Package Installer search for liquorix, then change to the Enabled Repos tab. Choose / check, one of the available liquorix images and header for the same version. and then check the "Also install..." at the bottom right of the page - and install.
Personally, I think the best versions I have run are: 6.2.14 and 6.5.11 and I think either will work fine for your machine.
Once have installed and rebooted, run QSI again to verify your running it. (Some users have reported they have to run MX boot and specifically choose the liquorix kernel, then reboot to engage it. ) Once you see it is running, give VLC a test.
