Hello, and thanks for the reply. I was about to do that, but didn't really like to expose all the system details to our stalkers. But, I guess I will do it anyway.
I actually had turned it off in the last minitutes as I was giving up on FF, I just forgot to remain with it and see the result. While I'm using Chromium as I'm typing, I will get back to FF tomorrow for some hours of testing. What I can say for now though is that one drawback with turning off the hw accel is that my CPU usage causes the laptop fan to bugger me alot.
Yes, I've always used the repo version of FF. I downloaded the the developer edition I think to have permanent local installation of own extension. With the repo/normal version as you know your extension needs to be signed and hosted in Chrome web store. But anyway, I mentioned the developer edition to make clear that even that one crashed, despite only having installed uBlock Origin, and having no userChrome.css.
In firefox I always clear these manually upon exit: "Browsing & download history", "Form & search history", "Cache", and "Offline website data". I don't usually clear cookies because many sites keep logged-in state within cookies apparently. Very annoying to login again since with some sites FF cannot detect when you are logging-in (to offer saving of password) apparently because the sites use some custom login form setup, and my KeePassXC crashes Xorg server when trying to autofill. I may try deleting cookies anyway for once since it was years ago I did that last. But like you I suspect that either hardware acceleration or the "fossiled" config is to blame. But then again, developer edition still crashes and it has it's own profile directory (folder). So I think it's the hw accel for the GUI, maybe even content, but possibly not for video as I usually use MPV, and sometimes when the thing crashes I haven't even been to a video site. But suffice to say that a minority of times when I start ff it can crash just a few minutes later already.
But here's the QSI:
